War had swept across the globe and the United States was ordering ships to send to battle. In Orange, shipyards around the Sabine River bustled with construction. Workers flocked to get jobs and they needed housing. Out along 16th Street grew Tiny Town, small homes for shipyard workers and their families. The years were 1917-18. Stay and Play Cuts Ribbon
A ribbon cutting ceremony Friday morning officially opened a unique playground in Orange. Stay and Play is located at the Little Cypress Intermediate School campus on Allie Payne Road. The ceremony marked the conclusion of Stage 2 for the specially equipped playground which has been a four-year project for coordinator Kelly Meadows the director of health services with the Little Cypress-Mauriceville School District.
