At approximately 11:00a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a two vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County. The crash is near FM 1442 and involves a truck tractor semi-trailer. The losing streak was snapped, or maybe more precisely stated, smashed last week by the Orangefield Bobcats. Coach Josh Smalley is proud of the job done by back-up sophomore quarterback Mason Gonzales. The coaches did not put too much pressure on Gonazales who did not have to throw a pass and responded with two touchdown runs as well as no turnovers. Denton Retires After 43 Years
After over four decades of wearing a badge Ronnie Denton retired from the Bridge City Police Department Thursday, September 29. Following his serving in the military Denton joined the Orange Police Department in 1973. He later served with the Texas Department of Public Safety, at the Orange County Jail, and 13 years with the Nederland Police Department before joining the Bridge City Police Department where he has worked the last 22 years. Police Have People To Question In Homicide
Detective Captain Robert Enmon said Orange police have "some people of interest we are looking for to question" in the shooting death of a 20-year-old man last night. Justice of the Peace David Peck ruled the death of Jeremiah Aaron Klinkhammer as a homicide. Captain Enmon said Klinkhammer died after being shot in the chest by a pistol. Investigators believe he was shot while in the large parking lot of the Sabine Park Apartments at 111 Pine Avenue off Simmons Drive. Driver Sentenced To 20 Years
State District Judge Buddie Hahn on Thursday sentenced a commercial truck driver to 20 years in prison for four counts of manslaughter. Roy Ellis Holcomb Jr. had previously pleaded guilty to the charge after his truck rig caused chain collisions that killed four people on Interstate 10.
