Sherry Lynn Bradley, 63, of Orange, passed away on October 4, 2016, at Baptist Hospital in Orange. Born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, on November 8, 1952, she was the daughter of Charles “Bud” Wildmon and Mary Dean (Freeman) Wildmon. Sherry worked for San Jacinto Glass for many years. She was an entrepreneur and always looked for the “perfect” venture. She loved cooking and collecting recipes. She also loved animals, especially dogs. Why is Bridge City named Bridge City? What was the community called before it took its current name? The answers to these questions and much more information will be found in a new book coming out titled The History of Prairie View-Bridge City. The author of the book Charlotte Chaisson works at Lamar State College-Orange, but Chaisson started working on writing it when she was at the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce. George Pixley Padgett, Jr., 80, of Orange, Texas, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2016. He was born in Brownsville, Texas, to Lorena M. and George Padgett, Sr., before moving to Orange in 1941. He graduated from Little Cypress High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked at Allied Chemical and Ausimont USA in Orange, until retirement in 2000. Free Diabetes Educational Class
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension along with Orange County Social Services County Indigent Health Care Program will be holding a series in Bridge City. The classes will begin Wednesdays, October 26th and will meet each Wednesday for four weeks with the last class on November 16th. Classes will be held at the Bridge City Senior Citizen Hall, 101 Parkside Bridge City from 2pm to 4pm. The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Board of Trustees recognized two students and several businesses during the October Board meeting on Monday, October 3. BC Back On Friday Night Schedule
Two straight open weeks have the Bridge City Cardinals ready to get back on the football field and to start hitting guys in a different colored jersey. Coach Dwayne DuBois indicates the two weeks helped heal some bumps and bruises so the Cardinals will be healthy coming into district action this week. The two weeks were used to correct some holes in the Bridge City offense and defense.
