Another Auto/Ped Fatality on I-10
A 45-year-old Michigan man walking along an Interstate 10 service road near Cow Bayou was killed Tuesday night after being hit by an SUV. The death is the third interstate service road pedestrian fatality within four days in Orange County. The Texas Department of Public Safety said the man was walking on the eastbound service road at Exit 867 near Cow Bayou. The site is opposite of Claiborne West Park. A Ford SUV was exiting the interstate about 8:30 p.m. and struck the pedestrian. The driver of the SUV was a 78-year-old man from Orange. OCC Puts 299 Loop On Approval List
The Commissioners Court voted unanimously Tuesday to advance the proposed Loop 299 project from the alternate list to the approval list with the Texas Highway Commission. Commissioner Jody Crump admitted he is an advocate of the so called Vidor Loop, but added Tuesday’s action does not commit the county spending any funds on building the proposed TxDOT roadway.
