A 61-year-old bicyclist had to be taken by ambulance to the local emergency room after being hit by a car about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday on 15th Street off Burton Avenue. Orange police report he did not have a white light on the front of the bike and he was wearing all black clothing in a dark area. Six Car Accident Thursday Morning
At approximately 7:30a.m, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County. The crash involved six (6) vehicles and occurred in the westbound traffic lanes near Boomtown in Vidor. The woman arrested for stabbing the father of her month-old baby told police he pushed his way in her apartment and started hitting her. She also told police she had earlier filed a complaint to get a no trespassing order against the man for her public housing apartment on Cove Drive. Orange Getting New Water Tower
Orange will be installing a new water storage tower and building a water plant on the south side of Interstate 10 east of Highway 62. The tank will be decorated with a new logo the council chose. Plus the tank will have LED lights "so at night it will really pop," said Public Works Director Jim Wolf. The Orange City Council Tuesday night agreed to accept a donation of about a half acre of land from Houseman Development for the tower, well and plant. Council Votes For New Display
Downtown Orange will be getting new Nativity scenes the year after one was removed because of atheists. Tuesday, Orange County Commissioners Court voted to buy a $560 Nativity scene to replace one that was 20 to 30 years old. The new one will be 4-feet-2-inches tall and made of colored plastic. It will include baby Jesus, Joseph and Mary, along with the three wise men, shepherds, sheep, a donkey and a camel. The display will be on the front lawn of the courthouse.
