HEB Coming To Pinehurst
A new HEB grocery store will be coming to Pinehurst. Officials with the HEB Grocery Company met with the Pinehurst City Council Tuesday night to work out an economic development incentive agreement. Harry Vine of the City of Pinehurst has worked closely with HEB to get them to come to his city. Vine said the new store will be going into the old Sears location in the MacArthur Shopping Center and will be 68,000 square feet or possibly larger. Curtis Jackson Jaynes, 86, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 in Orange. Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Curtis was born April 19, 1930 in Sidon, Mississippi to Walker Jaynes and Berdie Mae (Dirghty) Jaynes. He was an electrician at Brown & Root for many years and served in the United States Navy. Curtis loved scuba diving and collecting petrified wood. He also enjoyed reading and watching National Geographic. The Bridge City Cardinals finished undefeated in district to finish in first place. Coach Dwayne DuBois believes the Cardinals are playing their best football of the season, but could still improve. Bridge City’s focus in the Huffman game last week was its best of the season according to the coach. DuBois leaves it up to the coaching staff to make the Cardinals better, and he anticipates seeing improvement from the players this upcoming week. Card Skimmer Found In Area
Orange police last week found a credit-debit card "skimmer" on a gas pump at a convenience store on Highway 87 North after getting several complaints of fraudulent charges. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the department is investigating the skimmer, which was attached inside the pump at the Cypress Bayou Store. He said the owners of the store told officers they had no knowledge of the device. It's the first time Orange police have found and recovered a skimmer although there have been reports of same activity at other stores. Two Vehicles Stolen From Same House
Two vehicles were stolen outside of a Pinehurst residence early Tuesday morning and one was recovered in Vidor. Pinehurst Officer Kevin Norton said the theft was reported at 2:45 a.m. in the 3400 block of Heron Street. A blue 2000 GMC Sierra pickup truck and a red 2002 Cadillac Escalade were parked in the yard. He said the vehicles were unlocked and the keys were left inside. Vidor police recovered the pickup and arrested an individual for an unrelated offense, Officer Norton said. Pinehurst police will pursue the stolen truck case. The Escalade is still missing.
