More Skimmers Found
The Orange Police Department has found and seized three debit-credit card skimmers from gas pumps in the past two days. Another was found on a convenience store pump last week. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said all the skimmers have been inside the gas pumps and out of public view. He said earlier this week that some skimmers fit like an envelope over the exterior slip for the card. People who look closely can see that type of skimmer appears different. Anderson Arrested For Burglary
Pinehurst police Tuesday night arrested a man for burglary of a building inside the U-Rent All on Strickland Drive. He had a pistol in a case on the side of his pants, police report. Officers also found a case in his pocket with methamphetamine and a glass pipe used to smoke the drug. An alarm helped foil a burglar at a store on Burton Avenue early Tuesday morning. Orange police said the alarm sounded about 2:30 a.m. at the Texas Food Store, 305 Burton. Officer T.P. Pruitt found that the metal bars had been unscrewed and removed from a back window. The glass to the window was also broken. A five-gallon plastic bucket was turned upside down by the window to offer a way to step up to the window, which was about six feet off the ground. A 73-year-old woman filed a complaint with Orange police about sending $700 to a man she met through Facebook. She said he needed the money for a construction project. The bank turned down her loan requests a $10,000 and then $3,000. She had planned to send the loan money to the man. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the woman willing sent the money. He advises people not to send money to people they don't know in person. The woman told police she had been communicating with the man through Facebook.
