The 32-year-old man who was hit by a train early Saturday morning has been identified as Silas Hayes. Orange police spokesman Captain Robert Enmon said the Beaumont hospital has not notified the department of his condition. Union Pacific Railroad employees called police at 1:06 a.m. Saturday to say a crew thought their train hit a man. WO Has New Garbage Service
The City of West Orange approved a contract with a new garbage collection vendor Monday. Piney Woods Sanitation will collect the city’s residential garbage for five years under the contract beginning March of 2017. Piney Woods was one of three companies seeking the contract with West Orange. Mayor Roy McDonald and a committee reviewed the companies’ bids separately and then came together to compare their findings. Downtown Orange commercial projects continue to be strong with the largest building permit issued in October going to renovate an office building at 707 Front Street. James Gilliam's H.T. Group staffing company is spending nearly $381,000 to renovate the building. G&G Enterprise of Orange is the contractor, according to city of Orange building permits.
