The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual banquet Thursday at the Sunset Grove Country Club. A full house watched Joe Love become Chairman of the Board and a few surprise awards were handed out. Love was given the gavel from Maureen McAllister who served the chamber well the past year. One of the things the new chair talks about is the announcement of his or her's theme for the year. Love's theme is "Love Local" which continues to stress the shop local campaign. Area Students Attend Toy Coffee
The West Orange-Stark Elementary School Student Council attended the Toy Coffee sponsored by the Orange Service League. The club shows off a local home while collecting toys for the Salvation Army as admission. Students from St. Mary Catholic School were chosen to attend the 60th Annual Toy Coffee. On Wednesday, November 30, 2016 about 4:31p.m., Officers of the Vidor Police Department were dispatched to 210 Triangle, Vidor, Orange County, Texas in reference to a Disturbance. Retired Orange police captain Cliff Hargrave has been named as the captain in charge of investigations at the Orange County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Keith Merritt promoted Hargrave to the position which has been vacant since the death of Tom Ray. Hargrave started his career with the sheriff's office nearly 30 years ago. He then worked for the Orange Police Department for 25 years. He retired in January after serving as the captain of detectives for the department.
