Nancy McGuire Bassinger passed away peacefully in her sleep, on November 17, 2016, in Houston, after a short battle with cancer. Visitation will be November 29, from 9:00-11:00 at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas, Texas. Graveside services will be held after the visitation at 11:15 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas. Mrs. Bassinger was born on May 13, 1935, in Lampasas, Texas. Her parents were Lois Goodwin McGuire and William Raymond McGuire. Her brother Billy and her sister Joann predeceased her. Orange County Health Inspector James Scales found food service clean during the latter part of November with the lowest score of 13 being a 93. He gave six perfect scores, four to schools. The Brown Estate on Park Avenue in Orange and the Subway at 1545 North Main Street in Vidor were the only businesses earning 100. The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual banquet Thursday at the Sunset Grove Country Club. A full house watched Joe Love become Chairman of the Board and a few surprise awards were handed out. Love was given the gavel from Maureen McAllister who served the chamber well the past year. The West Orange-Stark Elementary School Student Council attended the Toy Coffee sponsored by the Orange Service League. The club shows off a local home while collecting toys for the Salvation Army as admission. Students from St. Mary Catholic School were chosen to attend the 60th Annual Toy Coffee.
