On December 8, 2016, at 5:34 am, Orange PD Officers were dispatched to FM 1006 and E. Roundbunch in reference to an assault victim. Officers arrived and located Mr. Michell with a cut to his left forearm. Officers were told the assault occurred at 1601 Georgia St. in Orange. Mr. Michell was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment and was last reported in stable condition. At approximately 9:45am on December 7, 2016, Officers of the West Orange and Orange Police Departments located a green Mercedes Benz car travelling along FM 105 in Orange that was believed to have been stolen from a hotel earlier in the day in the Orange. Upon stopping this vehicle on a traffic stop, Officers discovered that the driver of this Mercedes was reported to be an escaped inmate from Calcasieu Parish Louisiana named Jonathon Alexander. New Service Roads Over Tracks Opening
As part of the current I-10 project from Adams Bayou to the Sabine River, new frontage roads between SH 87 and Bob Hall Road have been constructed and will open Wednesday according to TxDOT. The $68 million project includes reconstructing I-10 from Adams Bayou to the Sabine River as well as rehabilitating some frontage roads. BC City Council Meets
The City Council in Bridge City approved Tuesday extending water and sewer service to a couple’s residence in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the city. Gary and Sandra Staton on Quail Drive made the request for city services. City Manager Jerry Jones indicates Bridge City is working to accommodate the Staton’s request. Mike Lund with the Bridge City Water Department has discussed the request with Mr. Staton and determined Bridge City will need to bore on one side of the Staton’s residence. For the third season in a row the West Orange-Stark Mustangs will be playing in the semi-finals of the state playoffs. Coach Cornel Thompson indicates the knee injury to starting linebacker Cory Skinner was just a bruise, and he will be available for this week’s game.
