The send-off for the West Orange-Stark football team will be Thursday morning. The team is scheduled to leave the high school at 8am with police escort and travel by the WOS Intermediate School before traveling north down 16th Street to I-10. Citizens Speak Against Suing Barras
The Orange City Council met Tuesday morning and they had several citizens in line to meet with them. Included in the group were several people who spoke against the city suing Leslie Barras to collect city legal fees. Barras is a lawyer who lives in the Old Orange Historic District. Earlier in the year she filed a lawsuit against the city contending the council violated the city charter by the way they agreed to move city hall and buy the first financial bank building for $2 million. Orange Police Reports
A 47-year-old woman had to be taken by ambulance to a Beaumont hospital Monday night for a head injury. She told Orange police she thinks her husband hit her in the back of the head with a pipe. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the woman had a large cut to her head. Acadian Ambulance took her to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment. Officers were called to the 1800 block of Church Street. The woman told police she and her husband had been arguing. She had seen him holding a pipe. Borel Graduates From Boot Camp
PVT Austin D. Borel, 19, of Orange graduated from United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego on December 9, 2016. PVT Borel successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD San Diego as one of 91 recruits in Training Platoon 2154. Elva Lee Brown, age 84, of Orange, Texas, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont, after a lengthy illness. She left this life with her daughter and grandaughter's loving arms around her. Elva was born in Orange on April 24, 1932. Baptist Closing All Emergency Services In Orange
Officials for the Orange Campus of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas has announced that effective January 12, 2017, all emergency services will be discontinued. In a release to KOGT the hospital said, "This action is required because the emergency services physician group staffing the Orange emergency room has terminated their agreement to provide services. Rebecca Lynn Bennett, age 64, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016 in Orange, Texas. Private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
