Lester Ray Robins went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 9, 2017. He was born October 13, 1919 near Stigler, Oklahoma to Duell Robins and Eva Arnold Robins. Lester, or “Red” as he was known in his youth, resided with his parents in the same area and graduated from Stigler High School in 1937. He met his wife to be, Laura Harmon while working behind the soda bar in a drug store in Stigler. They were married on May 29, 1939, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. County Sales Tax Numbers
Orange County entities have received the first monthly sales tax payments for 2017. The payments from the Texas Comptroller's Office cover sales in the month of November. The sales taxes are: Bridge City: $117,759, up 9.76 percent from the same time last year. Orange: $289,626, up 8.75 percent from the same time last year. Driving Scooter While Intoxicated
A man riding a motorized scooter through a grocery store was arrested Tuesday night for public intoxication. Orange police were called to Kroger, 1600 16th Street, at 7:10 p.m. concerning the man driving around carrying a load of groceries. Officer S. Williams reported the man had slurred speech. When another officer asked the man to get off the scooter, he had trouble maintaining his balance, Officer Williams said. 24-year-old Perry Lee Heard Jr. faces a Class C misdemeanor of public intoxication. Pinehurst Supports Hospital District
The Pinehurst City Council joined other entities in the county Tuesday in passing a resolution supporting the creation of a hospital district for Orange County. Pinehurst City Administrator Robbie Hood asked Orange City Manager Dr. Shawn Oubre to speak to the City Council on the need for the hospital district.
