Saturday in Beaumont the Southeast Texas Coaches Association held its Annual Hall of Honor Banquet. The banquet recognizes coaches of the year from each sport and this year four coaches were inducted into the Hall of Honor. Steve McCarty, the first football coach and athletic director at West Orange-Stark (1977-81) was the first inductee. McCarty was the head coach of the South Park Greenies from 1967-76 before spending two years at Lamar. He left WOS for Nacogdoches High School and later Athletic Director at his alma mater Stephen F. Two Arrested For Drug Possession
On Friday, Jan. 27 at approximately 3:30 PM, Detectives with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Special Services Division and the Orange Police Department Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop in the 2800 Block of MacArthur Drive. During the traffic stop, Detectives arrested Jonathan D. Hickey, 28, for traffic offenses. Power Outage Affects 7900
Electrical power has been restored across the county after a major outage before midnight Thursday. Approximately 7900 customers in Bridge City and Orangefield were in total black-out. Other areas were also affected and power blinked off for a few seconds across Orange. Entergy says the 138kv line tripped causing the power outage. The investigation is ongoing, including helicopters flying in the area today to check the area and the marsh. The outages affected Chemical Row plants. Orange Police Reports-Wednesday
A 50-year-old bicyclist was injured Wednesday night when a car hit him in the roadway near Walmart. Orange police said the bicycle did not have a white front light. Daniel Wayne Bergeron of Orange was taken by Acadian Ambulance to Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. Police described his injuries as non-incapacitating. The collision was about 7:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of Edgar Brown Drive. A 30-year-old man from Orange was driving a Chevrolet Impala and was turning from the Walmart driveway onto Edgar Brown.
