Orange Man Arrested In Lk. Charles
Sunday morning at approximately 1:20 a.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in reference to a shooting at a home on Sharon Lane in Lake Charles. Upon arrival deputies learned Kevin S. Edwards, 36, of Orange, shot a man who was located inside the residence by shooting through the bathroom window. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and remains in the Intensive Care Unit. Orange Police Reports
Three separate accidents during the weekend sent four people to hospitals, but none were seriously hurt, according to Orange police reports. Two cars collided Friday at 5:48 p.m. on Highway 62 North at FM 1078. 83-year-old Joseph Payne of Orange, who was driving a Chevrolet Malibu, was taken by Acadian Ambulance to Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Police reported his injuries were minor. 18-year-old Chad Simpson of Groves was driving a Mercury Grand Marquis and was not hurt. Orange County Health Inspector James Scales had to use a lot of ink to mark demerits during his visits to restaurants and food businesses in the last half of January. He went to 30 places with several earning scores in the 80s. The Donut Palace in Mauriceville had the lowest score, 77. Spider webs were a problem there and at other places. He also gave nine perfect scores, mainly to schools. The businesses earning a score of 100 were the Jumping Bean on Highway 87 North in Little Cypress and the Subway on 16th Street in Orange.
