Drivers who use the swing bridge at the end of East Roundbunch Road that runs to FM 1006 (Chemical Row) will need to find alternative routes for at least the next year. Orange County Road and Bridge Engineer Clark Slacum reported the bridge has been closed to all traffic. Acting on a recommendation from the consulting engineer following the regular inspection of the bridge Slacum had crews close the bridge Friday shortly after noon. Latest Sales Tax Report
The city of Orange was the only entity in the county with an increase in sales tax collections for the year to day. Other cities and the county were behind in 2017 payments for the first three months of the year compared to 2016. The Texas Comptroller's Office this week sent out March payments to cities, counties and special districts. The payments cover sales from the month of January. The payments for March plus the year-to-date payments are: Bridge City: $99,332 for the month and $372,080 for the year to day, about $14,000 less compared to 2016. BC Woman Also Arrested In Tyler Co. Murder
A man from Orange and a Bridge City woman are in the Tyler County Jail with bond set at $250,000 each for murder charges. The two were arrested in connection with the death of a 51-year-old man whose body was discovered inside his house, which had been destroyed by fire Sunday. 47-year-old Angela Coats and 37-year-old Bruce Lee Chance are facing first degree felony charges.
