Broussard Pleads Guilty
Carl Broussard, a former West Orange-Stark coach, pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of failure to stop and render aid in a collision that killed a mother and her 6-year-old daughter. The plea did not include a punishment. He will appear in court again in May to have a state district judge pronounce punishment after a pre-sentencing report is made. Skate Park Open
Installation wasn't complete on Orange's new skate park before skate boarders from around the area were trying out the equipment. Parks Manager James Lawrence said the park will have an official dedication in the future, but for now the skate pad at Sunset Park is open to the public during daylight hours. Leon J. “Jerry” Lauzon, the owner of Lone Star Life Coaching and resident of Bryan, TX died unexpectedly on March 20, 2017 at the age of 65 while at home with his wife and daughter. Jerry was born in Orange, TX on August 14, 1951 to Leo and Willie Lauzon. He graduated from Lamar University in December 1973 with a degree in Psychology. LCJH Wins Track Meet
On Monday, the Little Cypress Jr. High Girls 7th grade Track Team competed in the Silsbee track meet. Other schools in attendance were West Orange Stark, Silsbee, Orangefield, Cleveland and Tarkington. Little Cypress won 1st place with a total of 149 points. Many girls placed and won ribbons contributing to the overall points. Allie Shaffer competed in the 2400m run and 1600m run and placed 2nd in both events with her times of 10:45 and 6:36 respectively. BC Students Complete Project
Reflectors 4 Responders is a project by Youth Leadership Southeast Texas. Their goal is to place 275 reflective blue markers near fire hydrants in Orange County to assist first responders locate the hydrants during emergency situations. Gabby Howe and Makenzie Land spoke for the six-member group to the City Council in Bridge City about their project. Mentoring the Bridge City group of students is school Superintendent Todd Lintzen. LCM Golf Fifth
The LCM Boys golf team played at Wildwood golf course on Tuesday, March 21. They finished fifth out of 25 teams. Trey Love led the Bears with an 88. Good for seventh place individually. Evan Toohey and Blade Broussard shot 90 to lead the Bears. The LCM Girls golf team finished fifth at the West Brook tournament held out Bayou Din on Wednesday March 22.
