West Park Improvements
A municipal improvement that has been in the works for years is starting to take shape in Pinehurst. The West Park located on Park Avenue is getting a new walking track, new benches, and new playground equipment. Pinehurst Alderman T. W. Permenter has been advocating for several years to have a walk path at the park. Permenter said he walked the path for the first time this week and is looking forward to its completion. A girl student at Little Cypress Junior High was hit by a pickup truck on FM 1130 a little before 4 Monday afternoon. The student was taken by Acadian Ambulance to a Beaumont hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. She was reported to have contusions on her head. The school has sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. Man Reports Kidnapping/Police Briefs
A man called Orange police Saturday night to report he had been kidnapped and robbed at knifepoint after agreeing to give a ride to a man and a woman. The man said he drove the two to Nederland and dropped them off in a dark area. They stole his wallet with cash, cell phone and watch. The man called police about 9:30 p.m. Saturday from his apartment at Cypresswood, 1010 Highway 87 South. He told Officer L.T.
