The Bridge City Cardinals saw their four-run lead evaporate in one inning, but they immediately rallied to take another lead which they hung onto to defeat the Orangefield Bobcats 7-5 Friday night in Bridge City. Update: John Marcotte, the 59 year old Vidor man who tried to hang himself in the Orange County Jail, has had his condition upgraded to stable Friday afternoon. - On Thursday, April 6th, 2017 at approximately 10:36 am, the Orange County Correctional Facility requested medical assistance when a white male was found hanging in his cell. On Thursday, Jonathan Davis, Marine Biologist for Texas Parks and Wildlife, talked to juniors and seniors in the classroom of one of his past Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School instructors, Woody Cox. Davis talked about the Gulf of Mexico, Sabine Lake fish, sharks, his career, travels and research. Payless In WO Survives Cut
Payless Shoe Source Wednesday filed for bankruptcy and announced stores would be closing, but the one in West Orange will remain open. Payless is closing 378 stores across the country. The store in Vidor at the Crossroads Shopping Center is among those that will be closed. In addition, the Gulfway Drive store in Port Arthur and the store at Parkdale Mall in Beaumont will close. A woman in Orange suffered a serious head injury Wednesday afternoon and was taken by ambulance to a regional hospital. She told Orange police her husband hit her in the head with a walking cane. Police were called about 3:30 p.m. to a house in the 1200 block of Cherry Avenue. They reported the woman lost a large amount of blood. BC Girls, LCM Boys Win Track Titles
The running finals of the 22-4A Track Meet were Thursday at Silsbee. The BC girls needed a better finish than Hamshire-Fannett in the last race of the night (4x400) to win the title and the Lady Cards won the event to beat HF by 2 points. The Bears coasted to the boys title after having a solid lead after Monday's field events. The top four in each race qualify for the Area Round Meet to be held at WOS April 19.
