Kirby Lee Eddins, Sr., 73, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 12:35 PM on Friday, April 14, 2017 in a local hospital. Mr. Eddins was born January 12, 1944 in Beaumont, TX and was a 1964 graduate of Stark High School in Orange, TX. He lived most of his life in the Orange, TX area before moving to Lake Charles in 2004. He worked for B. F. Goodrich (Bayer) and retired from Lanex in 2000. West Orange - Stark High School Career Center Precision machine students competed last weekend in USA Speed Skills Precision Machine State Contests in Corpus Christi. Keegan Wilkerson (center student in attached photo) won first place in state in the speed skills on-site precision machine contest. He also won state “Best of Show” in the state project competition. Community Christian School competed well in the 2017 TAPPS State Tennis Championship. Senior Doubles team Ricky Foster and Nathan Rose won 1st place. Freshman Rahul Patel took home 2nd place in boy's singles. Seniors Christion Rivas and Justine Sylestine both had great showings. The boys team also earned enough points to become Boys Tennis Team State Champions for 2017. Kaitlynn Dennison, a day after having the game winning hit against LCM, was 2-4 with a double and a run scored. Deweyville Superintendent Retiring
Over 30 years in education will come to an end in June for Kevin Clark. The Deweyville Independent School District superintendent announced to the school trustees in Deweyville his plans to retire earlier in April. When he took the position of Deweyville superintendent 21 months ago Clark indicates his intentions were to be there for at least five years. Clark gives his reason for retiring in June as being philosophical differences between the school board and Clark’s future plans as well as the commitment it would require over the next three years.
