A number of gunshots woke neighbors in the Charlemont subdivision late Saturday night. Orange Detective Captain Robert Enmon said officers found several spent bullet casings in the street. No one was arrested because a suspect was not found. Police were called at 11:18 p.m. Saturday to the area around 23rd Street and Maxwell Circle. Patrol officers reported a number of neighbors had come out into the street after hearing the gunshots. The Orange Planning and Zoning Commission along with the City Council will have a special called meeting Tuesday to discuss developments on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Allie Payne Road. Faith United Methodist Church, 8608 MLK Drive, is requesting a zone change for a five-acre tract. The land is currently zoned for high-density residential. OFISD Awarded For Energy Efficiency
Orangefield ISD was awarded a $19,180 cash incentive from the Entergy Solutions Program for energy efficiency upgrades. The Entergy Solutions Program helps organizations save energy and money by providing no-cost facility improvement recommendations and financial incentives based on energy savings. After three years of fundraising, the Friends of the Orange Depot are proud to bring to the city of Orange the beautifully renovated Southern Pacific Depot, circa 1902. Early Morning Accident
At approximately 5:20a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County. The crash occurred in the eastbound traffic lanes near mile marker 869. Initial reports indicate that a 2008 Dodge Charger was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 at an unsafe speed and lost control of the vehicle. A Ford pickup truck changed lanes to avoid colliding with the Dodge Charger and was struck by a 2004 Hyundai passenger vehicle.
