Jacqueline M. Moore passed away on Thursday April 13, 2017 after a short illness. She was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of Orange, Texas for many years. Jacqueline was loved by family members and people in the community. She was retired from the Sears Store where she had several years of service. Going home celebration will be on Saturday April 22, 2017. PreK3 students at St. Mary Catholic School are learning the alphabet. They are “experiencing” the letter “X”. Mrs. Rhonda Harmon, their teacher, is constantly looking for ways to make each letter of the alphabet “come alive” for her students. The most obvious word that begins with “X” is x-ray. Orange P&Z Rejects Upscale Subdivision Plat
The Orange Planning and Zoning Commission Tuesday rejected the preliminary plat for the upscale Oak Alley subdivision by businessman David Hinds on Allie Payne Road. City Planning Director Kelvin Knauf said the plans did not meet all the city's requirements. Commission Chair Cullin Smith then asked why the commission was voting on the plat. Knauf said the Texas Legislature made a law that says once a plat is submitted, a planning and zoning commission has 30 days to deny it or it automatically will be accepted.
