Brett Lake Campbell, 28, of Orange, Texas, passed away on April 29, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Barry Bradley, of First Baptist Church of Orange, along with Mr. Kevin Garriga. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Man Arrested With Meth-Police Reports
A Little Cypress man was arrested Sunday night after Orange police found equipment and chemicals used to make methamphetamine inside his car. They also found the drug. Officer M.C. Bernard reported he stopped a Ford F-150 pickup truck about 11:30 Sunday night on Old Highway 90 at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The truck had been moving erratically, leading the officer to stop it. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said officers smelled something like rotten eggs coming from the car. Tuesday is the last day for early voting in Saturday's city, school and special district elections. Extended hours will be held at all the sites. Newton Co. Man Dies In Fire
The Newton County Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the death of a man who was found in a house fire Saturday evening. Sheriff Billy Rowles identified the man as 32-year-old Christopher Lee Franks of Newton. The Newton County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call at 6:20 p.m. Saturday about a house fire on County Road 4001 south of Newton. OCSD Graduates 12 At Academy
The 8th annual Orange County Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy recently held their graduation for 12 citizens who took the 6 week course. This course offers them an inside look on how each division with in the Sheriff’s Office works. The course includes two weekly classes for 3 hours with instruction and hands-on practice out at our shooting range and a tour of the Orange County Jail. The citizen’s also got to ride in the SO's air boat and safe boat.
