On Monday, May 1 at 10:25 Officer J. Trussell of the Pinehurst Police Department responded to the 1200 block of 28th Street in Pinehurst in reference to a suspicious person on a motorcycle. Upon arrival she located a white male on a motorcycle attempting to leave the area.  She detained him and identified him as Luke Ivan Purgahn, 41, of Orange.  He was found to hold an outstanding warrant issued by Justice of the Peace PCT. 4 in Vidor.   The City Council in Bridge City had a short meeting Tuesday, but the council did hear some good news.  City Manager Jerry Jones said filters have been installed in two of the three water wells in Bridge City.   The Commissioners Court gave approval Tuesday night for the second week in a row to have County Judge Brint Carlton sign a document stating that Orange County has the financial capability to pay its share of the construction of a proposed levee to be built between Sabine Pass and Galveston by the Corps of Engineers.  The project which is nicknamed the Ike Dike is estimated to cost $1.9 billion.  The county’s portion of the cost would be 35 percent or about $674 million. After more than two years of work, the Texas Department of Transportation has opened both lanes of the Rainbow Bridge across the Neches River. TxDOT spokeswoman Sarah Dupre said any remaining work on the bridge will not affect traffic. TxDOT crews were on the Veterans Memorial Bridge restoring markers to the way they were before the detours were set for the Rainbow Bridge. The Rainbow Bridge, which opened in 1938, went through a painting and repair project valued at about $26 million. Preparation work began in December 2014. County Health Inspector James Scales was busy handing out good grades to restaurants and food businesses during the latter part of April. He went to 32 establishments and handed out 11 perfect scores. Most of the places rated an 'A,' but a couple had a 'B.' The Exxon Food Mart at 7120 Interstate 10 in Orange had the lowest score with a 74.
