The Orangefield Bobcats rebounded from a loss in Game 2 of the series to dominate the District 21-4A Champion Lufkin Hudson Hornets in the decisive third game played Saturday at Paul Cormier Field in Orangefield. The Bobcats took an early lead and won the ball game 7-1 to advance to the Area Round of the state playoffs in Coach Tim Erickson’s first season at Orangefield. Friday night the Mustangs picked up where they left off after district play taking Game 1 of their best of three Bi-District playoff series with the Diboll Lumberjacks 5-1 in Jasper. Starting Mustangs pitcher Jack Dallas was not overpowering in winning the ballgame, but there were no complaints heard on his performance. If Brianna Frenzel wanted to set the tone for the series she accomplished that feat Friday, striking out seven of the first eight batters she faced as the LCM Bears beat Huffman 3-0. It was Game One of a best of three series held at PNG High School. Frenzel, a sophomore, had a no hitter broken up in the sixth inning with a bloop single. WO Audit Contract Terminated
The City of West Orange has waited over two months for a municipal audit from the accounting firm of Sandersen and Scheffer, but has still not received a completed audit. The City Council in West Orange met a called session Friday morning with City Attorney Rex Peveto to discuss the city’s contract with the accounting firm.
