The week of May 8-13 has been recognized as “Economic Development Week” in Orange County. It has been just over a year since Orange County took a new direction in Economic Development with the hiring of Jessica Hill as the executive director of the county’s Economic Development Corporation (EDC). Alton Edward Hare, 83 of Orange, died on May 10, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. A member of one the founding families of Orange, Alton was born to Henry Edward and Elizabeth “Esther” Hare on April 28, 1934 and was a life-long Orange resident. After graduating from Stark High School, the Detroit Tigers drafted him as a pitcher, but he chose instead to serve in the Korean War and was awarded the Silver Star for Gallantry in Action.
