A man who was riding in a car with drugs and cash escaped Orange police in the middle of Monday night by swimming across Cooper's Gully. The woman who was driving the car was arrested for misdemeanor marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. Officer M.C. Bernard reported he was on a service call to the area of Sixth and Burton streets about midnight. He saw a Nissan four-door car traveling slowly by. As it passed, he smelled marijuana from the car. The Pinehurst City Council re-appointed City Administrator Robbie Hood on Tuesday night. Hood was selected as the Pinehurst City Administrator in 2015 replacing the retiring Joe Parkhurst. Truck Fire Slows Traffic
Around 1pm Wednesday Orange firefighters responded to a diesel truck fire on the eastbound side of Interstate 10 just before the FM 1442 intersection. The driver told investigators he was driving the truck and smoke started coming out of the air conditioning vents. He exited without injury. The truck was carrying rebar mesh sheets. Motorcycle Accident Claims Driver
At approximately 6:20a.m. Wednesday, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a one vehicle crash at the intersection of FM 1136 and Turtle Road in Orange County. Preliminary reports indicate that a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on FM 1136. For an unknown reason, the driver of the motorcycle traveled off the roadway, struck a utility pole and mailbox before coming to rest.
