Hope you guys enjoyed your Labor Day! Whether you labored or not. First week of high school football is in the books. Your biggest improvements usually come between week one and two and after week three you know what you're dealing with barring an injury to key player(s). Wasn't overly surprised by any of the results but that 6-3 overtime win for Nederland over Lumberton was interesting. We'll see what the Mustangs do with the Dogs on Friday. Christmas Strolls Introduce Ticketed Entry

Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center welcomes the community to their annual Christmas Strolls, taking place on Tuesdays through Saturdays, December 2-20, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (last entry at 8:30 p.m.). This year, Shangri La Gardens is implementing new changes to this event to ensure a more safe and magical experience for all guests. Week One Round Up

Week One of the 2025 season is in the books. Let's take a read at some of the highlights. Bridge City 46 Buna 14One of the question marks for BC was at QB after the graduation of Hutch Bearden. Well it was a great start for Hudson Hoffman who accounted for five touchdowns in the Cards road win. He found five different receivers, completing 80% of his passes. Foster To Fight Oct. 25

O’Shaquie Foster,  the WBC super featherweight champion from Orange, will defend his title against reigning WBC Featherweight Champ Stephen Fulton on Oct. 25 at the MGM in Vegas as the Co-Main Event. This matchup was originally scheduled for August but the event was cancelled. The 31 year old Foster (23-3, 13 KOs) is facing an opponent who is pursuing a third world championship in three different weight classes. Billie Lou Delaney Leger, 92 of Orange, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 28,2025 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. She was born June 23,1933 in Orange, Texas to James Kenneth Delaney and Ester Elizabeth Hale Delaney. Billie was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Biker In Serious Condition

A man riding a motorcycle is in serious condition following an accident late Thursday night. Vidor Police Chief Rodney Johnson said they were called to the 500 block of Pineburr St. for a motorcycle accident. The driver lost control, left the road, and was found about 100 feet from the road. Margaret Trahan

Margaret Trahan, 81, of Vidor, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 30, 2025. She was born on August 4, 1944, in Oakland, California, and had been a longtime resident of Vidor. Margaret was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She had a gentle, caring nature and a deep love for animals, often feeding the squirrels around her home. WOS Comeback Stuns Eagles

The West Orange-Stark Mustangs used a strong second-half to outpace the Newton Eagles to a 32-24 victory on Friday night at Dan R. Hooks Stadium in West Orange. Trailing 24-6 in the first half, the No. 8 state-ranked Mustangs scored 20 points in the third quarter and the WO-S defense kept the Eagles out of the end zone in the second-half, including a final defensive stand in the red zone with 17 seconds remaining in the game to claim the victory.
