Sara Lou Sheffield, 94, of Spurger passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024. Born to William Asa and Mattie Horn, she lived in Tyler County most of her life. She worked many years as the cafeteria supervisor for Spurger ISD. Known to many as Mama, Nanaw, Sara Lou and to some as “Aunt Shorty,” she had a green thumb like no other, loved to cook, dance, collect frogs, and most of all have her family together. BC Man Killed In Robbery
On December 2 at approximately 8:20PM, Port Arthur Police responded to a convenience store in the 700 West Gulfway Dr. regarding a Robbery/Shooting. Officers found that the clerk had been shot during the robbery and was later pronounced deceased on scene. Surveillance revealed the suspect enter the business armed with a weapon, he brutally shoots the clerk and runs away. The victim was identified as Manoj Fernando, 39, of Bridge City. Trail of Trees More Than Just A Display
The hallways at LCM High School are lined with Christmas Trees, Christmas music is in the air and a homemade igloo sits at the end of the display. The Trail of Trees is a big attraction every year says Activities Director Stacey Smith. "Different school groups adopt a tree to decorate. We have about 40 trees and the different groups really take pride in representing their organization," she said. "People value what they have a hand in creating."
