James Francis (Jim) Reed, 87, passed away on December 13, 2024. He was born on May 29,1937, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Barbara Kovacs Reed and Francis Reed. By the time he was four, Jim had lived in Pittsburgh; Orange, Texas; and Honolulu, Hawaii before his parents settled in Detroit, Michigan, where he grew up. Jim graduated from St. Joseph High School in Detroit and entered the University of Missouri on a Navy ROTC scholarship in 1955. Brady Indicted By Grand Jury
The Jefferson County Grand Jury has indicted an Orange man for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. On December 7 Beaumont Police were dispatched to 1060 Harrison in reference to shots fired. They arrived to find a home that had been struck several times and found two teenagers inside who had been shot and/or wounded by shrapnel. Casings from a .223 rifle were found outside of the home. On Monday, December 16th, 2024, at approximately 5:59 PM, officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to 12 Byron Road in reference to a disturbance involving a firearm. At the same time, other officers were dispatched to Christus Orange Hospital in reference to a male subject with a gunshot wound to the leg. On Monday, December 16th, 2024, at 10:02 AM, the City of Orange Police Department responded to Muddy Water Marina located at 2100 DuPont Drive in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, contact was made with the complainant who reported one of the buildings had been burglarized and several items were missing from inside the building.
