Jean Lindsey Johnson, 90, of Vidor, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30th, 2024, at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont, Texas. Born in Beaumont, she made Vidor her home and was a beloved member of the community. A dedicated member of Turning Point Church, Jean's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She retired as a custodian for Vidor Independent School District, where her hard work and kindness left a lasting impact on students and staff alike. Man Struck On Bicycle
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating an auto-pedestrian crash on Farm-to-Market Road 1131, near the intersection of Apple Pie Ridge Road, that occurred Sunday, December 29, 2024. The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 8:36 p.m., a bicyclist was traveling west on the outside shoulder and for an unknown reason, traveled into the main lane and was struck by a 2013 Nissan Titan. Stop Turns Into Bust
On Sunday, December 29th, 2024, at 7:11 PM, officers with the City of Orange Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2200 block of Pacific Street. The vehicle had defective driving equipment and officers observed a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jamaal Duvon Booker, 31. Booker had active warrants for his arrest and was detained. Officers smelt marijuana coming from the inside of Booker’s vehicle. For the most part Orange County was spared as heavy rain, thunderstorms, and a powerful tornado hit the Southeast Texas area Saturday afternoon. A large tornado started around Dickinson, Texas according to TSC and skirted the Texas coastline into Louisiana, barely missing the city of Port Arthur.
