Coy Bruce Schubarth, 40, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on January 4, 2025, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on August 12, 1984, he was the son of Coy Harold Schubarth and Sylvia Marie (Melancon) Schubarth. Bruce was a beloved figure in his community and carved out a life filled with purpose and service. He had a career marked by dedication and hard work. Dr. Thomas Johnson, Lamar State College Orange President since October 2018, has told KOGT that 2025 will be his last with the school. "I'm about to turn 63 and there's still some things me and my wife Karen want to do," he said. "I've spent 42 years in public service and it's time to do something else." Two Shootings Monday Night
Around 9pm Monday some living in the Roselawn area say they counted at least eight shots rang out in the neighborhood. Police arrived in the 3500 block of Ridgemont to find a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. A witness said he was getting out of his truck when someone drove by and started shooting. Orange Police said upon arrival, officers located the victim inside of the residence. He was transported to an area hospital and listed in stable condition.
