On Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, at 1:25 PM, Investigators with the City of Orange Police Department observed a green Dodge Charger commit a traffic violation and stopped the vehicle in the 300 block of Strickland Drive. A search of the vehicle was conducted and Investigators located three ounces of cocaine, 120 grams of marijuana, 5 grams of assorted prescription pills, a firearm, and cash. Big weekend of football starts Thursday with the first College Football Playoff Semifinal between Notre Dame and Penn State. The game will kick at 6:30pm in Miami and the Irish are one point favorites. Friday the Texas Longhorns hook up with Ohio State at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The Buckeyes are favored by 5.5. NWS Outlines 68 Mile Tornado
Donald Jones of the National Weather Service in Lake Charles released information on the large tornado that hit Southeast Texas on December 28. He said satellite analysis has revealed an additional 19 miles of track to the EF-3 Sabine Ranch Tornado that moved through much of Chambers and all of Jefferson county on December 28, 2024. The track has been extended into western Cameron parish through parts of the Sabine Wildlife Refuge. This brings the total track length to 68.42 miles (and a half mile wide). Boating Accident Wednesday
Wednesday morning at approximately 6:15am, there was a boat crash on Cow Bayou approximately one mile southeast of the Roundbunch Bridge in Orange County. According to Capt. Ryan Hall, local Game Wardens responded to investigate the crash after daylight and interviewed those involved. The preliminary investigation revealed that Logan Mitchell of Bridge City was traveling southeast along Cow Bayou shortly before daylight in his 22’ center console Majek bay boat on his way to go fishing. It was a packed house Tuesday night at the Orange County Expo Center as the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Banquet. Awards were announced, a new chairman was introduced, and a good meal and good time were had. Outgoing Chairman Jessica Hill handed the gavel over to Stacey Brister.
