Founders Day, Feb. 1

The amazing ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. all across Southeast, Texas are having a Founders Day February 1, 2025, in Orange, Texas. All of the mayors from Orange, Beaumont, and Port Arthur, Texas will be in attendance for this spectacular occasion. Three Make All-Academic

Lamar University quarterback Robert Coleman, defensive linemen Caleb Williams and long snapper Lane Gilchrest have been named to the 2024 Academic All-Southland Conference team announced league officials Thursday afternoon. It marks the second consecutive season that LU has placed three players on the all-academic squad. Randy Spurlock

Randy Spurlock, age 64, of Orange, Texas, was called home to his savior on Friday, January 17, 2025, after passing away at his home.  A private service will take place to honor Randy and his passing.   Arrangements were made under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home. On November 13, 1960, Randy was born to Columbus D. Spurlock Jr. and Geneva Roy Spurlock, in Orange, Texas, he spent his early years growing up in Riverside. Clarence Rayburn (C. Ray) McCurley

Clarence Rayburn (C. Ray) McCurley, 57, of Vidor, TX passed away on Tuesday January 21, 2025 at his home in Vidor. C. Ray was born in Pasadena, TX on April 07, 1967 to Alton Wayne and Martha Jean McCurley. They lived in Tyler when C. Ray was a young child and eventually moved to Vidor where he attended school and began a career in EMS and firefighting. C. Ray joined the Vidor Volunteer Fire Dept as a Junior Explorer and as soon as he turned 18 became a volunteer fire fighter. John Ryan Hardee

John Ryan Hardee, 50, of Plano, Texas, passed away on January 18, 2025, at home.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor Charlie Miller.  Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on November 15, 1974, he was the son of Billy J. Hardee, Sr. and Wanda (Hancock) Hardee. John was a dedicated nurse for Medical City in Dallas, where he took great pride in his work and cared deeply for his patients. What’s Going Orange?

Welcome back to our second 'What's Going Orange?' column here on KOGT.com. We had a good response last week about our first one and we had some offer their suggestions to a new title for the column if I don't stick with what we call it now.
