ORANGE COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a fatal crash on Farm-to-Market Road 105, north of Ponderosa Street, that occurred Friday, January 24, 2024. The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 10:15 p.m., a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling north, reportedly at an unsafe speed, which caused the rider to lose control and skid into the oncoming lane, where it was struck by GMC pickup traveling south. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a motorcycle crash on state Highway 62, near County Road 3147, that occurred today, January 24, 2025. The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 1:05 p.m., a wide load was traveling south and being escorted by two motorcycle police officers, with emergency lights and sirens on. On Friday, Jan. 24 the Newton Co. Sheriff's Office received a call regarding an accidental shooting on CR 3114 in Deweyville. The caller stated that his son was accidentally shot in the hand during a hunting trip by another sibling.
