Hopefully everyone had a great week. We started the week off with the snowstorm and had several wrecks throughout the county. No serious injuries were reported, thank goodness! Last Thursday, we received our Senate Bill 22 grant money from the State Comptroller’s Office. This helps us raise salaries for our deputies and purchase equipment using state funded money. House Fire In Pinehurst
Fire Departments from Pinehurst, Orange, Bridge City and West Orange converged on a house fire called in at 3716 Mockingbird in Pinehurst Sunday night just before 8pm. Flames were showing from the back of the home when they arrived. Homeowner John Gill said he heard a loud pop before smelling what he described as paper burning. Each enclosure was built around a Meyers lemon citrus tree for weather protection. This is a detailed process beginning with extensive pruning of each tree, placing large containers then filling with water (35-gallon each), wrapping trees with multiple layers of burlap, placing 4 by 8-foot wood lattice panel above the t-posts (securely fastening with tie wraps), and completing the enclosure using a 20 by 30-foot tarp (securing with rope) and duct tape (image: John Green). Fatal Accident Friday
ORANGE COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a fatal crash on Farm-to-Market Road 105, north of Ponderosa Street, that occurred Friday, January 24, 2024. The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 10:15 p.m., a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling north, reportedly at an unsafe speed, which caused the rider to lose control and skid into the oncoming lane, where it was struck by GMC pickup traveling south.
