The bite is consistent but expect this to change next week with the forecasted warm up. Target fish on structures and grass. Bass are very lethargic and slow to bite. Target stumps in creek bends for the best bite. The water is off colored in the creeks and pockets. Crappie and white bass are moving up the creek channels. Thursday ten talented Vidor High School finalists competed in the Stark Reading Competition, showcasing their incredible skills in the Interpretation and Declamation categories. USG Receives EDC Approval
Tuesday evening at the Orange City Council meeting, council approved the Orange Economic Developments recommendation of giving up to $400,000 for improvements to the new USG Paper Plant off N. Hwy. 87. The amount is not to exceed $200,000 per year over a two-year period. It was the first time council publicly talked about USG coming to town after the worldwide company bought the former International Paper plant at 1750 IP Way. What’s Going Orange?
This past weekend the area coaches association (SETCA) held its annual conference that culminates with a banquet where they induct new members into their Hall of Honor. The four men inducted included two who spent most of their career in Orange County and I know both pretty well. Tom Woolley is one of the good guys. He was the girls basketball and softball coach at Bridge City and later LCM. Woolley's teams were always competitive. He was also creative. Shirley Marie Robin 86, of Vidor, Texas Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025, at Vidor Health and Rehab. A native of Sour Lake, Texas, Shirley was a longtime resident of Vidor who built a life filled with love, faith, and service to her community. After marrying her lifelong love, J.D.
