Bobcats Open With A Win
The Orangefield Lady Bobcats kicked off the 2025 season with a 4 inning run-rule against the Jasper Lady Bulldogs, 14-0. Teal Kibodeaux got her first win on the mound as a Lady Bobcat giving up just 1 hit with 11 strikeouts in 4 innings of work. The Lady Bobcats collected 7 hits on the night, with 5 being for extra bases. Charlee Sanches had a homerun, 2 RBIs and a run scored. Girls Playoff Schedule
The first round of the girls basketball playoffs is this week. Bridge City, Little Cypress-Mauriceville and Orangefield will be competing in the postseason. The 18-4A Champs from Bridge City will travel to Huntington Monday night to face Huntington at 7pm in the Division 2 bracket. The winner plays the winner between Liberty and Wheatley. In the Division 1 bracket, The Lady Bears, also out of 18-4A, will play 17-4A Palestine at Lufkin Hudson HS Monday at 7:30pm. The winner plays the winner between Worthing/Huffman. Child Found Unresponsive
A three year old is in a Houston hospital after a call of an unresponsive child came in to the Orange County Sheriff's Department on Sunday afternoon. The call came in from the 1800 block of Chimney Rock which is off of Hwy. 105 between Orangefield and Vidor. Sheriff's deputies and OCESD #2 arrived to find the parents giving the child CPR after they were pulled from the swimming pool. A med life helicopter was called in to transport the child. Fire on Dewey St.
Saturday around 5:15pm Orange firefighters receive a call of a house fire and 300 block of Dewey. According to the neighbors on the scene, no one was home and they noticed smoke coming out of the house and called for help. According to fire marshal, Randy Enner, it appears the fire may have started in the living room area by a possible candle left burning The fire was quickly contained to just the living room area and the home received smoke fire and water damage.
