Fred Bolton passed away on Feb. 10, 2025. He was 75 years old. Bolton was the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Bridge City from 1984-89 and one of the first football coaches I covered as a young reporter. For those that knew him he will be remembered for his bright smile and the way he treated others. Coach always made himself available, win or lose. I've never forgotten that and still remember that despite all of the coaches I've covered over the years. Game Wardens Make Arrests for Illegal Exotic Hunts
PORT MANSFIELD – Texas Game Wardens arrested a local hunting outfitter and two others for illegally guiding nilgai hunts on private property. The suspects used airboats and thermal optics to take clients on hunts for the exotic animals, operating a sophisticated scheme and profiting from illegal activity. The individuals have been charged with hunting exotic animals without landowner consent, theft of exotic livestock and engaging in organized criminal activity. The heavy rain was not enough to put out a vehicle fire Tuesday afternoon. The call came in around 2:15pm. A man driving a car hauler from Lafayette, La. to Houston pulled over at the Waffle House parking lot on I10 thinking something may be wrong with his vehicle. He said he opened the drivers door and flames came out from underneath. The driver was uninjured. Firefighters investigated a possible lightning strike at LCM High School Tuesday. Someone reported possibly seeing a strike and smoke in the area. The Orange Fire Dept. brought their ladder truck and OCESD3 also investigated and found no damage. Someone was reportedly burning trash and there was some smoke in the area.
