Drugs Found After Traffic Stop
On Feb. 25, 2025 an Orange County Sheriff’s Office Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in Vidor, south of IH-10. The OCSO deputy suspected the driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was involved in criminal activity. A search of the driver’s vehicle resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of contraband believed to be Methamphetamines, Cocaine, Fentanyl, Marijuana, and Psilocybin (mushrooms). Wernig Steps Down At OISD
Following an arrest for DWI, Orangefield ISD School Board Member Marc Wernig stepped down Monday before the board was scheduled to censure him during a school board meeting. Censure is a reprimand and statement of disapproval. It is not a step toward removing an elected official from office. However Wernig turned in his resignation Monday morning, according to board President Laura Clark. Wernig was stopped on February 14 and later arrested. With the conclusion of the local powerlifting season, the LCM Bear Iron team looks forward to the regional meet in Navasota on Thursday, March 6th starting at 4:30 PM. Seven lifters qualified and they are: Aiden Snyder in the 123's, Isaac Pinder in the 165's, Dilon Cabrera in the 181's, Eddie Winters Wilhite in the 242's, Nathan Childress in the 275's, Cooper Smith in the 308's, Carson Phelps in the 308's. by Sheriff Colton Havard On Friday, February 21, 2025, Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 9000 block of FM 2626, for a disturbance. Deputies had been trying to locate the suspect, who had a felony warrant for his arrest out of Kansas for aggravated assault. The responding deputy’s preliminary investigation indicated the suspect was hidden inside of a toolbox in the back of a pickup truck.
