Charles Allen Prothro, of Pearland, TX passed away on February 23, 2025. Charles was born on August 9, 1929 as the only child to Lemuel and Pauline Prothro in Beaumont, TX. He has been a resident of Pearland for the past four years and formerly resided in Beaumont, TX.Charles was a retired Ironworker and proudly received his 75 year Texas Ironworkers in 2023. Truck Leaves 800 Without Power
On February 25, 2025 at about 10:30 am a truck-tractor with an oversized load left IP Way and turned south onto Highway 87. The load began to pull residential utility service lines from homes as the load continued south. At the Little Cypress Bayou crossing the load caught a large utility line pulling it into to the ground, breaking a utility pole, and disrupting utility service to about 800 homes in the Little Cypress area, according to Entergy. BC Loses Close One To Cuero
A record breaking season for the Bridge City Lady Cards came to an end Tuesday in Katy as the Cuero Gobblers pulled away late for a 41-36 win in the 4AD2 Semifinals. The Lady Cards (35-4) met up with a team that had the same intensity on the defensive side of the ball. Some softball teams started district play Tuesday while other games were postponed. The Bridge City Lady Cardinals (7-4-1, 1-0) came out swinging with a 21-1 (4) win over West Orange-Stark. Cambree LaComb was the star going 3-4 with a HR, double, 2 RBI's and 3 runs scored. She also got the win, giving up one run on 3 hits with 6 strikeouts and one walk. On Tuesday, local golf teams competed in Nederland Invitational, which was held at Babe Zaharias golf course, in Port Arthur. Tuesday in Katy, two basketball teams will be making their first ever trips to the 4A State Semifinals as the Bridge City Lady Cardinals take on the Cuero Gobblers at the Merrell Center at 6pm.
