Shugart To Start In AAA
The Pittsburgh Pirates have optioned Bridge City native Chase Shugart to the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians of the International League. Shugart made five appearances during spring training. He was off to a good start with three consecutive scoreless innings before giving up five runs in a third of an inning on March 2. The right handed 28-year-old was able to earn a promotion to the big leagues at the end of the 2024 season for Boston, notching a 4.15 ERA over 8.2 innings. We started our inmate work program last week at the Sheriff’s Office. Trustees spent a day last week inDeweyville mowing the Courthouse Annex along with the Senior Center. These guys are low-level offenders and are adequality supervised. This is a great opportunity for these inmates to give back to the community and learn how to be productive members of society when they are released to enter the workforce. Turnaround Closed Again
Drivers from the area are having a hard time remembering that the I-10 Service Road no longer goes over Adams Bayou. Sunday the westbound turnaround, which had just reopened from the last accident, saw another accident as two people walked away from serious injuries after turning their vehicle on its side. The westbound side has seen as many as four accidents that has closed the turnaround while the eastbound turnaround has had at least two accidents that has forced closure for repair. The women's state powerlifting contest was held in Edinburgh and our area had a good contingent of young women compete and two came home STATE CHAMPIONS. The total weight comes from the total of bench, squat and deadlift. In Class 4A- Madison Watson of Vidor is the 198 State Champion with 1135 total including 315 in the bench.
