Bass are on beds in some pockets. Bass can be caught flipping into brush and trees with rattle traps. Crappie are moving shallow to set up on beds. Wanda Granger, 88, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, in a local hospice. She was a native of the Orange, Texas area and had been a resident of Starks for nearly 60 years, moving from Nederland, Texas. Wanda was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Starks. She worked as a nurse for many years for different local doctor's offices, then went on to work as a Sales Agent for Boise Cascade before she began working for the Louisiana Tourist Information Center as a Travel Advisor. Took off from The Juice last week with Spring Break. We had company, including our niece and nephew and there wasn't much alone time to concentrate on a column. It was a big week for the oldest, Caydence, who turned 11 and also caught her first bass by herself. Glad that she was able to do it with her dad. When we're with them I always wonder if I would've been a good dad. I think I would've been. But then I'm reminded of something I shouldn't have done or said "around the kids."
