Caralina "Katy" Watkins, 83, of Vidor, passed away on Thursday, March 27th, 2025, at Vidor Health and Rehab. A native of El Paso, Texas, she made Vidor her home for many years, where she built a life filled with love for nature and simple joys. Katy worked at Lindow's Trophy Shop before transitioning to Jiffy Trophy Shop, where she took pride in her work. She was a private person who found peace and happiness in the outdoors. Whether it was watching birds and squirrels or tending to plants, she cherished the quiet beauty of nature. The LCM Bears held off a late rally by Lumberton to beat the Raiders 3-2 at Don Gibbens Field. The Bears jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to a Parker Seago HR. Clay Darby drove in Clay Raney in the second and a Sac Fly by Jakson Struwe in the fourth scored Ethan Fry for a 3-0. Lumberton would score two in the fifth and then in the seventh the Raiders had the tying run at third when Seago hit his pitch count. Parker Freeman came in to get the final out and move LCM to 5-0 in district. Great Day For The Bobcats

The Orangefield boys and girls are leading the District Meet after a windy Day One in Anahuac Tuesday. The boys lead 58-50 over Anahuac and the Lady Bobcats lead East Chambers 91.5-65.5. The running finals will be Thursday. Zach Morrow was a triple gold winner, taking first in the pole vault, triple jump and long jump. The Bobcats also finished 1-2-3 in the pole vault. Morrow vaulted 13-6 followed by Gavin Gravett 12-0, and Dacius Lytle 10-6. Morrow long jumped a personal best 21-0 and he also set a new best in the Triple Jump (42-3). Good day at the park for Lamar's Bridge City boys Tuesday! Peyton Havard (3-1) got the win in relief, striking out 6 and walking none in 5 innings. And DH Logan Hamm went 3-6 with 2HR's and 4RBI's in a wild 22-16 win over Tarleton State Tuesday. Holts Pleads Guilty To Wire Fraud

An Orange, Texas man has pleaded guilty to a federal violation related to a fraud scheme in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Abe McGlothin, Jr.  Bradley Morgan Holts, 54, pleaded guilty on March 31, 2025, to wire fraud before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn.  According to information presented in court, Holts, a financial advisor and stockbroker, was previously a financial advisor at Capital One Bank and World Capital Brokerage. Hardin Sentenced To 240 Months

An Orange, Texas man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his role in a fatal fentanyl overdose in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Abe McGlothin, Jr. Lawrence Duguett Hardin, Jr., 39, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and was sentenced to 240 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on April 1, 2025. Orange County residents now have a unique opportunity to dispose of inoperable or derelict vessels at no cost through a new partnership with the Texas General Land Office (GLO) and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD).
