Amber Ann Uzzell, 29, of Vidor, passed away on Monday, April 7th, 2025, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, TX. A native of Beaumont, Amber was a lifelong resident of Vidor who cherished time spent with her family and loved ones. Amber had a vibrant spirit and a big heart. OHS Ready, Set, Teach
Students in Mrs. Kimberly Spears' OHS Ready, Set, Teach program traveled over to Lamar University's Student Summit for CTE students on Friday. Students were able to hear from both Student and Faculty Discussion Panels about careers in Speech-Language Pathology, Social Work, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Nursing. We are grateful that we are in the process of getting a new tower, which will tremendously improve our radio communications. On Friday night, the Newton County Fair started. Larry Lee Casey was born on October 29, 1942, in Orange, Texas, to Edward Durwood Casey and Suewillow (Wilkinson) Casey. He was raised in Tenaha, Texas, where he graduated from high school in 1961. After graduation, he attended Panola College in Carthage, Texas. Larry proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Hood. In 1969, he met the love of his life, Sandra Mitchell, and the two were married on September 5 of that same year. Lamar State College Orange took the trophy back on Friday, March 28, 2025 during the 26th Annual Spelling Bee. Pictured are Melissa Chatlosh, Robyn Burdette and Brian Lynch.
