The All-KOGT Basketball Team features some talented individuals who had outstanding seasons and a team that almost gave Orange County its first representation in the State Tournament in 20 years. Sunday afternoon at approximately 2:30pm authorities diffused a situation at a convenience store on Texas Ave. in Bridge City. An individual was in a vehicle near the pumps at 1150 Texas Ave. threatening to harm himself. After nearly an hour authorities were able to talk the individual down. DeLuna Steps Down At BC
Bridge City will be looking for a new head volleyball coach as Savanah DeLuna has decided to step down after four seasons with the Cardinals. Coming over from West Brook, DeLuna lead the Cardinals to three district titles and three trips to the third round of the playoffs. "I've been coaching volleyball for 15 years and my son starts as a freshman next year at Nederland High School. So I've been coaching his whole life. Old Church Burns Down
Around 3am Sunday morning Orange firefighters responded to a fire that appears to have been set to an old church at 8086 Old Hwy. 90. The church, located near Rogers Lumber and in front of the OC Drainage District, has been vacant for some time. The property is still owned by the Apostolic Pentecostal Church according to county records. The picture below (google) shows its previous condition. Driver Avoids Police
It's rare that someone being tracked by authorities is not found but Saturday afternoon one man was able to slip past them. It started in Rose City when a man in a Lexus drove to close at a high rate of speed past an officer when they were stopped with another vehicle. The officer began to chase the Lexus, the man stopped near the intersection of I-10 and FM1136 and ran into the woods. They began to search the woods along with a K9 but called it off at dark.
