Man Going To Prison After Stealing From School
An Orange, Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for theft from the Trinidad Independent School District, announced Eastern District of Texas Acting U.S. Attorney Abe McGlothin, Jr. Brandon Delane Looney, 39, pleaded guilty to theft from a program receiving federal funds and was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Jeremy D. Kernodle on April 24, 2025. According to information presented in court, Looney stole nearly $340,000 from Trinidad ISD between 2017 and 2023 while he served as Trinidad ISD’s business manager. Roadside Drug Bust
On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at approximately 9:50 p.m., a Newton County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling in Deweyville when he observed an individual, later identified as Jerry Moore, walking along the roadway. The deputy initiated a roadside interview with Moore. During the interaction, the deputy developed reasonable suspicion that Moore might be involved in criminal activity. While speaking with the deputy, Moore admitted to being in possession of a controlled substance, believed to be methamphetamine. BC Wins District Tennis Title
The Bridge City boys and girls tennis teams are the 18-4A District Champs. It was an All-Card final in girls doubles with Kinsley Cammack and Emma Buysse besting Erin Thibodeaux and Presley Ducote. In girls singles French Phenom Maeva Gibot had a strong tournament placing second place and a regional berth.
