Oscar Edward Dixon, 94, of Orange, Texas, passed away on January 29, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Rusty Dollar. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Visitation will begin prior to the service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in
Orange.
Born in Hammond, Louisiana, on March 30, 1930, he was the son of Clarence Dixon and Kitty (Hughes) Dixon. He had a long and fulfilling career, retiring from Dupont after 35 years as a supervisor. Oscar served in the United States Air Force, where he demonstrated his dedication to country. He was deeply involved in his community, spending 32 years working with the Masonic Lodge. Oscar was a proud and active member of the North Orange Baptist Church, where he participated in ministry work. Oscar loved his family very much and cherished the time spent with them. In addition to his professional and community engagements, he enjoyed various hobbies. He found joy in hunting, fishing, gardening, and being outdoors, activities that brought him peace and happiness. Oscar will be remembered not just for his accomplishments, but for the love and kindness he shared with everyone around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Kitty Dixon; wife of 66 years, Elsie “Bea” Dixon; son, Ronnie Keith Dixon; and siblings.
He is survived by his son, Michael E. Dixon and wife Rebecca; daughter, Sharon K. Dowden and husband Tim; numerous, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Hooker, Allen Friend, Michael S. Dixon, Phillip Bachman, Curt Dixon, Tyler Burris, and Tim Smith.
