Orange County District Attorney John Kimbrough said charges will not be filed against Prec. 4 Constable Matt Ortego because there was no evidence showing that he threatened his kids with a gun.
On Nov. 26 Ortego’s ex-wife told Vidor Police that an intoxicated Ortego threatened to kill his children and himself. The investigation that followed showed that Ortego only threatened to kill himself.
Ortego’s attorney Cory Crenshaw said in a statement that Ortego is fully committed to getting treatment as recommended by health professionals. He is also up for re-election in March.
