Domestic violence kept Orange police busy during the weekend, including one stabbing and one fight in which gunshots were fired. However, detectives have a mystery. No one, not even the victim, knows what left a 53-year-old man lying unconscious in a pool of his own blood.
The man was found in the about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 2900 block of 17th Street, in the area behind Taco Bell. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said officers found a piece of bloody construction pipe nearby and think the man was hit in the head with the pipe.
Police reported his cheek was split open and was bleeding. The man, however, did not remember what happened or who hit him. He was taken by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Saturday afternoon about 2:45, the Golden Triangle Emergency Center notified police of a stabbing victim. A man who lives on Byron Street told officers he went into a bedroom of the house and his wife threw his brief case on the floor. She then hit him with her fist in the head and face. Then she left the room, came back with a knife, and stabbed him in the stomach. The man drove to a family member’s house and they took him to the emergency center.
Captain Enmon said the man’s injury was not life-threatening and he does not want to file charges.
However, a man was charged with aggravated assault in connection with a fight with his wife that included gunshots. Captain Enmon said 64-year-old Steve Taylor Foreman was arrested and charged.
The patrol officer reported he had a 911 call at 8:10 p.m. Saturday to the 4300 block of Tulane Road. Police dispatchers said a woman called needing help, but when they called back, the line was busy. The officer said he knocked on the door of the house and a man answered. He could hear a woman crying inside and the man gave him permission to come in. After talking to the woman, he filed the aggravated assault report.
Police were called back to the emergency clinic about 12:30 a.m. Sunday because of another domestic violence case. A woman living on Lincoln Drive got into a physical fight with her roommate, who is also a woman. The woman told police she was choked during the fight.
Also, a woman went to the police station about 10:15 Saturday night wanting to file an assault charge against a man at her high school reunion at the VFW Hall on North Highway 87. The 30-year-old woman told a patrol officer she was with her boyfriend and another man was bothering her. The two got in an argument and security told them to leave the building. Outside in the parking lot, the man called her over and the argument continued. She said the man hit her. Police reported a cut on her forehead.
